NLC Mortgage Lenders Survey |
We have noticed an increase in the number of NLC members and their families reporting property sales are falling through due to issues with their leases. Also being refused new mortgages or remortgages on more favourable terms. In most cases it is reported that lenders are highlighting onerous leases or TP1 terms as the reason for the refusal.
We would like to understand what the core issues are and what lenders are more problematic than others as there appears to be inconsistencies.
The following short survey will give us more detailed information re ground rents and service charges which seem to be the most common reasons for refusal.
Mortgage Lenders Survey
This anonymous survey is designed to collect data re mortgage lender’s responses to new applications or re mortgages on Leasehold/Fleecehold properties.
The results will be shared with Government to help them understand any issues for leaseholders trying to get an approved mortgage, renew an existing one or sell a property. The survey may also capture issues faced by first time buyers of leasehold/fleecehold properties.
You may complete this survey more than once if needed eg if you own more than one property or you have attempted to buy several properties as a first time buyer.
This short survey should take 10 mins or less to complete.
There are TEN questions.
Closing date is 24th Dec 2024.
